Hey!! 8th NUJS-HSF National Corporate Law Moot 2016, conducted in association with Herbert Smith Freehills LLP


It is hosted by West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata

The moot problem this year contained issues pertaining to oppression and mismanagement of directors, enforceability of arbitration clauses, and various other practical aspects of Indian company law.

Date
26th to 28th of February, 2016

Participation

The moot saw participation from seventeen law schools across the country.

The participants were to argue complex commercial and arbitration law issues, based on a fictional problem set by NLS graduate and former Global General Counsel at Cipla, Murali Neelakantan.

Results

Winners
The moot was won by Megha Mehta, Sharwari Kothawade, and Ayushi Agarwal from National Law School of India University, Bangalore.

Runners up
Priyanka Murali, Anant Gupta, and Prateek Suri from National Law University, Odisha.

Judges

The final round was judged by an illustrious four-judge panel, consisting of
-Chris Parsons, Chairman of India Practice at Herbert Smith Freehills, and
-Nicholas Peacock, Partner at Herbert Smith Freehills,
-Justice Soumen Sen from the Calcutta High Court, and
-Mural Neelakantan.

Semi-finalists
Gujarat National Law University and Jindal Global Law School were semi-finalists in the moot.

Best Speaker & Best Memorial

The Best Speaker citation was awarded to Ishan Khanna from Hidayatullah National Law University and the Best Memorial award was won by Nirma University.
