There is a Power Plant in Tuticorin known as Tuticorin Thermal Power Project.

The Tuticorin Thermal Power Project is working under NLC TAMILNADU POWER LIMITED –NTPL.

Coal Source : 70% Mahanadhi Coal
30% imported coal
CW System : Sea Water closed loop system. Blow down to maintain water
quality.
DM Water : Desalination Plant Output + Mixed Bed Unit
Fresh Water : Desalination Plant
Ash Disposal : Dry collection and Dry disposal

Silent Features:
Steam Generator : Semi outdoor, balanced draft, assisted circulation, drum type,
pulverized coal fired
Turbo Generator : Standard 3000RPM, tandem compound, single reheat,
regenerative feed water heating
Generator : Hydrogen cooled.
Unit transformer : 3 x 200 MVA, 21 KV / 400 KV
Switch Yard : Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS).
Power Evacuation : At 400KV by PGCIL
Cooling Towers Natural Draft - Two Nos. –Height: 147.7 m
Chimney One No. 275 m high, Bi-flue chimney
