Re: Norfolk children's University
The Children's University began in Manchester in 2007 and in a relatively short space of time has blossomed into one of the largest out-of-school hours and informal learning initiatives. Norfolk Children’s University A launchpad to future success The vision of them- to inspire all young people (aged 5 to 14), to discover innovative and creative learning outside the normal school day, and so develop new interests and acquire new skills Their aims for children – To work with schools and the local community to provide quality assured learning opportunities that: Raise aspiration, self-esteem and confidence Encourage curiosity and love of learning Enhance motivation and build resilience Improve life experiences How it works Through the Passport to Learning, they encourage children to take part in extra learning in their schools, in out of school clubs, They also enjoy learning opportunities on offer across the county in places like museums and libraries. As children show that they want to learn by choosing to do these extra things, they celebrate their achievements with certificates and special Graduation Days. Learners are given the opportunity to: Access an extended, enriched curriculum Make informed choices about what they want to learn Explore and develop new talents Manage and measure their own success Make new friends who have the same / similar interests Celebrate and receive tangible reward for every success Build a portfolio of achievements to complement their individual profile Contact details Children's University Royal Northern College of Music, 124 Oxford Rd, Manchester M13 9RD, United Kingdom Phone:+44 161 907 5389 |
