Module 1 (08 hours)
Diversity of life, Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, Mendels laws of inheritance-Law of segregation and law of independent assortment, Functions of different organelles in the cells, Mitosis and Meiosis, Molecular genetics.

Module 2 (07 hours)
Structure of biomolecules-Deoxyribonucleic acid, Ribonucleic acid, Carbohydrates,
Lipids, Proteins, Functions of biomolecules, Metabolism, Photosynthesis, Molecular genetics,

Module 3 (06 hours)
Membrane biology, Cell signaling and transport system, Developmental biology, Cell differentiation, Embryonal development, Regeneration, Techniques in cell and molecular biology.

Module 4 (07 hours)
Concept of genome, Sequencing of model organisms such as Escherichia coli,
Saccharomyces cerevisiae, A. thaliana. Mutation in bacteria, Bacteriophages and their genetics. study of genes, Functional genomics, Synthetic biology.
