Neelu Bhasin | Re: Duration Of M.Phil Course In JNU Course Structure The M.Phil. programme is of four semester duration, consisting of 24 credits—16 credits for the course work and 8 credits for the dissertation. The course work consists of 2 core courses of 4 credits each and 2 optional courses, also of 4 credits each. Every student is required to take two core courses in the first semester and two optional courses in the second semester. Eligibility for admission: Students with a Master’s degree in social sciences and other allied subjects such as sociology, economics, history, social work, anthropology, psychology, nutrition, public administration etc. (with a minimum of 55 per cent or equivalent grades) are eligible for admission to M.Phil. programme (UGC Guidelines). Admission is based on a national level entrance examination followed by an interview.
