The MSc Foundations in Clinical Psychology programme offered by Canterbury Christ Church University is designed for psychology graduates who are considering pursuing training in clinical psychology, or other mental health-related disciplines.

As such the programme is intended to provide a stepping stone towards a rewarding potential career in clinical psychology or mental health.

Entry requirements

One must have an undergraduate degree at 2.1 or above in psychology that confers Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society (BPS).

One whose native language is not English must satisfy the University's requirements for English language proficiency (IELTS 6.5, or higher, or TOEFL 570/230, or higher).

Models of clinical psychology and psychological problems
This covers theoretical models of the development and maintenance of psychological difficulties and distress throughout the lifespan, as well as models of well-being and adjustment.

Psychological problems through the lifespan
This covers the range of different presenting psychological difficulties experienced by clients across the lifespan and in culturally diverse contexts.

Assessment, treatment and clinical skills
This covers a range of psychological assessment, formulation and treatment, and therapy approaches derived from the various theoretical models utilised by clinical psychologists.
This includes general clinical skills, as well as skills enabling you to communicate with clients, their families and other mental health staff.

Professional, ethical and service-related issues
This may include such topics as: the role of clinical psychologists; professional and ethical considerations; risk issues; the structure and provision of NHS mental health services; service user perspectives; and developmental, social, cultural, and organisational contexts.

Research Methods and Statistics
This aims to build on your existing skills and knowledge, providing a solid grounding in core quantitative and qualitative research methods, and statistical methods.

Advanced Research Methods and Statistics
This aims to provide knowledge of more advanced research and statistical methods, including issues relating to treatment effectiveness research.

Dissertation
This module offers you the opportunity to undertake a significant piece of independent research, under supervisory guidance, of a particular topic that links directly with one of the research themes of the psychology team

Is there any program in the Clinical Psychology Discipline offers by the Canterbury Christ University? I have done Master Degree in Nursing. Now I want to do research Program in Clinical Psychology Discipline. So pls tell me about research areas offers by the Canterbury Christ University? I think the University offers Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Program, is this information right? Give its notification for admission.
