Re: SBI Specialist Officer Technical Syllabus

You are looking for the details regarding the SBI Specialist Officer Technical exam. SO I am providing it to you so that it may be helpful for you:

Paper Pattern:

Part I: There will be 120 questions of 120 marks. An Important Point to keep in mind is that these marks are of only qualifying purpose. These marks won't be considered while calculating your merit. For example, assume that the cutoff marks for Reasoning section is 8. So they will only check whether you have marks 8 or above. It doesn't make any difference if you get 11 or 50 out of 50 marks. For SBI both are same. So don’t waste time on these sections!!!

Part II: Professional Knowledge section. This is the section to watch out for. You will get 50 questions of 100 marks. They will consider these marks in deciding your merit. To be eligible for being short-listed for interview, you have to score really good in this section, besides scoring equal to or above the minimum qualifying marks in other tests. So, this section is the most crucial one and will decide your fate.

Syllabus:

Quantitative Aptitude:
Data Interpretation (almost 40% questions). For this section, focus more on Averages, Ratios and Proportions, Bar Charts, Tables, Pie Charts Simplification, etc.

Note: Now a days they are making DI questions from the areas Probability, Time and Work, Simple and Compound Interest, etc. too.)

Numerical Ability, ratios and proportions, averages, LCM and HCF, Ages, Time and Distance, Speed and Distance, Profit and Loss, Basic Mensuration.

Reasoning:
In last year SBI Specialist Officers' Exam(2012), they've mainly focused on Analytical Reasoning. So focus more on topics like Classification, Input and Output, Seating Arrangement, Ranking, Coding - Decoding, Time Sequence, Decision Making, Course of Action, Cause and Effect, Statements Conclusions and Statements Assumptions.

Last year, the SBI hadn't asked questions from Non-Verbal Reasoning. So this time also you can expect the same pattern.

English Language: For this section, focus more on Vocabulary, Antonyms, Synonyms, Sentence Arrangement, Fill in the Blanks, Locating and Correcting the errors, Reading Comprehension and cloze test.

Important Note: As we have already mentioned, the marks of above three sections won’t be considered while calculating your merit. So don't waste too much time on these sections.
