NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a national level medical entrance test Conducted by the CBSE Board. It is held for providing admissions in MBBS/BDS courses offered by all government and private medical colleges in India.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidate must be an Indian National or Overseas Citizen of India

Candidates must be at least 17 years of age as on December 31, 2016

The age limit for General Category candidates is 25 years

The age limit for SC/ST/OBC candidates is 30 years

Candidates must have appeared/qualified Class 12th exam with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology (PCB), Mathematics or any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT)

Exam duration 3 hours (180 minutes)

Language English, Hindi and Vernacular

Number of questions 180 multiple choice questions (MCQs)

Distribution of questions

90 questions from Biology and 45 questions each from Physics and Chemistry

Marking Scheme

+4 for each correct response
-1 for each incorrect response
