| Re: MSC Mathematics In NIT Calicut
The two year programme is spread over four semesters of course work involving core courses, electives and laboratory courses and upon successful completion of which the candidates will be awarded with M.Sc. degree in Mathematics from NIT Calicut. The core courses in the curriculum are identical to ones taught in other regular M.Sc. Mathematics programmes in the country, which lay strong foundations on concepts and stimulate scope for research in any area of Mathematics. Students can opt for their area of interest or curiosity by choosing elective courses with the advice of department faculty. Project work and seminar activities are part of the curriculum to develop the research talent of the students. Eligibility: One having a B.Sc. degree in Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics/Statistics with 60% marks or CGPA 6.5/10 or equivalent is eligible to apply for the programme. (For OBC/SC/ST candidates, suitable relaxation of criteria is given as per rules). An entrance test will be conducted by the Institute to choose suitable candidates from among the eligible applicants. Admission The Admission to MSc Programme is through centralized counselling conducted for the M.Sc programs of various NITs and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes. The admission is based on the Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) score. Candidates with valid JAM score are eligible to participate in Centralized Counselling.
