The MS University has a English Department for offering English courses. The Department of English is one of the eleven departments that enabled the founding of the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University in 1990.

It is a Department with the UGC sanctioned faculty strength of one Professor, two Readers and four Lecturers.

More than 70 Ph.Ds have been awarded degrees and currently about 25 are working for Ph.D. with the faculty.
