The Mohanlal Sukhadia University Udaipur has a Biotech department. The department was founded in 1997.

The Mohanlal Sukhadia University is a NAAC accreditation A Grade institute. The MLSU was the first in Rajasthan to start Post-Graduate Program in Biotechnology in the year 1997 followed by a three year B.Sc. Biotechnology Course from the academic session 2005-2006.

The department initially started functioning from the Department of Botany, University College of Science is located in a modern independent building complex Vigyan Bhawan, Block B in the new campus of the University.
