Re: MBA Writing Own Recommendation
Some applicants have this idea that if they can get their company CEO, whom they have never met, to write their business school recommendation then the admissions committee will in awe and immediately accept them. There are two straightforward rules for choosing recommenders: One should choose people who know your work very well, and also choose people who will write the recommendations themselves with your guidance. A great recommendation is written by someone who knows your work very well and someone who can go beyond simple assertions to give examples of the impressive contributions that offer evidence of the leadership skills as well as teamwork ability and business acumen. Typically, this means that the recommender should be a supervisor, a colleague, or a client. Also, try to select a range of recommenders ones who has seen you in different situations and that they all don’t end up saying the same things about you or using the same stories. The aspirant should never write his own recommendation as this will hamper you from saying anything more than what you would probably have said in the essay. |
