The rules and regulations for students for Library as declared by Manipal Academy of Higher Education, (branded as Manipal University) are as follows:

Any conversation/discussion is permitted only in group study area; silence should be maintained at all times in other areas and phones should be kept on silent mode.

Books, journals, etc. taken from the shelves for reading should be left on the tables after use

Bags, briefcases, handbags, parcels, aprons or other receptacle are not allowable inside the library as it accepts no responsibility for the loss or damage of personal belongings.

Chairs and tables and other library equipment, fittings and furniture should not be marked, spoil, jumbled.

Copyright law should be strictly observed by all library users when making copies of library materials.

Computers are for educational use only. The use of the Internet in the library is for reference work. Accessing unauthorized sites, playing games, chatting etc. are firmly forbidden.

Library books, journals etc. should not be spoiled by underlining or draw notes in the margins, etc.

Loss or damage to library material on loan to a user should be reported immediately. Student needs to pay the cost of replacing a lost or seriously damaged book/article; in addition, has to pay the fine.

Notices, aid or related material may only be displayed in the library with the permission of the Librarian and in an approved fashion.

Personal books are not allowable within the reading halls of Level III (left wing), Level IV and Level V.

Students should use the combo card for access.

Students should not keep back seats either for themselves or for others by leaving library material or personal property on a reading table.

Students are required to vacate the library at designated closing times, upon hearing the alarm.

Smoking, eating, drinking (except water), sleeping and talking loudly are strictly prohibited in the library.

While departure the library, students are required to show all books, folders, papers, etc. in their possession at the security counter of the reading hall. Students are also required to submit for inspection any receptacle carried out of the library.
