The School of Distance Education (SDE) was established in 1990 at Mahatma Gandhi University to provide cost effective quality education to largest sections of the population including those living in remote and far flung areas. The School of Distance Education is striding long steps towards democratization of higher education through off campus academic centres in India and abroad. Now SDE has 73 off campus centres – 66 within India and 7abroad. Courses offered MSc Chemistry (Inorganic, Organic, Physical Chemistry , Polymer Science--5 seats each) Eligibility: B.Sc Chemistry with Mathematics and Physics as subsidiaries with not less than 55% marks in part III MPhil (All Branches in Chemistry--3 seats each) Eligibility: M.Sc Chemistry with not less than 55% marks PhD (All Branches in Chemistry -Full time and part time) M.Tech in Polymer Science and Technology (4 sem -10 seats) Eligibility: B.Tech/B.E in Polymer Science and Technology/ Fibre Science and Technology/Rubber Technology/Plastic Technology/Chemical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Material Science/Chemical Technology with 60% or equivalent grade/ M.Sc in Chemistry / Polymer Science/Applied Chemistry from a recognized institution with 65% or equivalent grade. Preference for candidates with valid GATE score Integrated M.Sc PhD in Chemistry (9 seats) Eligibility: B.Sc Chemistry with Mathematics and Physics as subsidiaries with not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in part III Integrated M.Sc PhD in Chemical Physics (3 seats) Eligibility: B.Sc Physics with Mathematics and Chemistry as subsidiaries with not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in part III Admission Procedure: The admission for the M.Sc and M.Phil. programs is based on an all round performance in a national level entrance examination , marks in the qualifying examination and a subject Interview. The admission for Ph.D. is based on a national level entrance examination or on NET/GATE performance.
