The Madurai District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Ltd, is popularly known as Madurai Aavin. This is one of the largest dairies in the southern part of Tamilnadu. Madurai Aavin was started during the year 1967 as Madurai Milk Project. The project and the dairy machinery were funded by the UNICEF under New Zealand free from Hunger Campaign Committee.
