M Tech from NIT Raipur

Can you tell me about the eligibility required and seats allotted for admission in M Tech course offered by NIT or National Institutes of Technology Raipur as I want to check if I am eligible for it?

The National Institute of Technology Raipur (NIT Raipur) is a technical institution founded in 1956. It offers 2 undergraduate (B.Tech. and B.Arch.) and two postgraduate programmes M.Tech and M.C.A. in 11 engineering disciplines and Architecture.

M Tech Eligibility

1. For Applied Geology. - BSc with Geology as one elective subject. OR - BE/B.Tech. in Mining Engineering

2. For Chemical Process Design (offered by Chemical Engineering Department). – BE/B. Tech. /Equivalent degree in Chemical Engineering or relevant disciplines.

3. For Water Resources Development & Irrigation Engineering (offered by Civil Engg. Deptt.) – BE/B Tech/Equivalent degree in Civil Engineering or relevant disciplines.

4. For Structural Engineering (offered by Civil Engineering Department) – BE/B.Tech/Equivalent degree in Civil Engineering or relevant disciplines

5. For Power System & Control (offered by Electrical Engineering Department) - B.E./B.Tech/Equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Power Control & Drives, Power Electronics, Power Engineering or relevant disciplines.

6. For Thermal Engineering (offered by Mechanical Engineering Department) - BE/B.Tech/equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant disciplines.

7. For Industrial Engineering and Management (offered by Mechanical Engg. Department) - BE/B.Tech/equivalent degree in any branch of Engineering.

8. For Machine Design (offered by Mechanical Engineering Department) - BE/B.Tech/equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant disciplines.

9. For Information Technology (offered by Department of Information Technology in coordination with Elex.& TC and Computer Science & Engineering) - BE/B.Tech/equivalent degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Electronics or relevant disciplines or MCA.

10. An applicant must have secured CGPA of 6.5 on 10 point scale or 60% marks for OC/OB whereas 6.0 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 55% in case of SC/ST/PH candidates in the qualifying degree.

11. For sponsored category the candidates must possess minimum of 2 years experience after qualifying exam and must be sponsored by their employers. They must satisfy the academic qualifications as given above.
