The Department of Physical Education was established in 1978 vide Government Notification no. 5178-XV-10-78, Dated 28-10-1978. It was inserted in the University s First Statute and Act on the same date. The Department is under the Faculty of Arts. The Courses B.P.Ed. and M.P.Ed. were started in 2005 wide N.C.T.E order no. F.N.RC/N.C.T.E/F-3/U.P-975/1549, 16th May, 2005.
