Louisiana State University (LSU) is a public coeducational university located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The university was founded in 1853 in what is now known as Pineville, Louisiana, under the name Louisiana State Seminary of Learning & Military Academy.

Admission criteria :
MS and PHD programs are open to student's holding degrees in petroleum engineering, other engineering disciplines, or sciences. For students with a degree in other engineering fields or science, additional coursework is required with no graduate credit. The amount is based on the student's previous academic training.
