The Department of Laws of Panjab University, Chandigarh, originally established at Lahore in 1889, was re-established at Shimla in 1948, shifted to Jalandhar in 1950 and finally re-located at the University Campus at Chandigarh in 1959.


Bachelor of Law

Eligibility
The Entrance test for Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) based on PUCET (PG) is shall be open to all such candidates who possess the qualifications as mentioned below:-

One must have Bachelor/Master Degree in any discipline with at least 45% marks in aggregate from Panjab University or any other University recognized by Bar Council of India and Panjab University.

If one having a Bachelor degree of this University or any other University recognized by the Syndicate, through Modern Indian Languages (Hindi or Urdu or Punjabi (Gurmukhi Script) and/or in a Classical Language (Sanskrit or Persian or Arabic) the aggregate of 45% marks are calculated by taking into account the percentage of aggregate marks that one had secured at the language exam, excluding the marks for additional optional paper, English and the elective subject taken together.

5% concession is admissible in eligibility marks to SC/ST/BC/PwD candidates.

Admission Criteria: Based on PUCET (PG)
Academics: 50%
PUCET (PG): 50%

Admission under Migration (Lateral Entry) in LL.B. 3rd and 5th semester as per the rules available at the department notice board

Eligibility
One who has passed one of the following exams is eligible to join the 1st semester class of the LL.M. Course:-
(a) LL.B. degree exam of this University with minimum 55% marks; OR
(b) Any equivalent exam of another University recognised by the Syndicate for this purpose.

Admission to LL.M. Semester - It shall be on the basis of an Entrance Test. Total marks for determining merit would be 200:-80% of 200 (100 marks for the entrance test) 20% of 200 (100 marks for the qualifying exam.)
