Amity University, Noida is a private non profit research university. It was established in 2005 by an Act of State Legislature of Uttar Pradesh.

It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 22 of the UGC Act 1956 and accredited by the NAAC with grade 'A'

It is also a member of Association of Indian Universities and Association of Commonwealth Universities.

As a comprehensive university, Amity University offers academic programmes in both traditional and distance learning mode.

Admissions to most undergraduate and postgraduate programs are done through a written exam followed by an interview or a group discussion.

Admissions to all B.Tech programs are done through the computer based test AMITY-JEE and an interview.

Various scholarships are given to high-merit students.
