On October 2, 1964, Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya (JNKVV) came into existence and was inaugurated by the then Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Smt. Indira Gandhi.

The mission of JNKVV (Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University), Jabalpur is to conduct education, research and extension activities for enhancing productivity, profitability and sustainability of agricultural production systems and quality of rural livelihood in the State of Madhya Pradesh.
