The Jamia Millia Islamia is a twofold Mode University offering Regular and Distance Mode education. In its distance mode, it offers Undergraduate, Post-graduate, M.Phil., Ph.D. as well as Diploma and Certificate courses. The University also caters to the interests of students from all communities, but also aims to assemble the particular needs of the disadvantaged sections among the Muslims.

The Centre for Distance and Open Learning was created with the following objective:

To make easy the students to study from his/her own chosen place.
To make it easy for the aspirants to determine his/her own pace and convenience.
To present flexibility in the choice of subjects from various disciplines.
To offer “Self Learning Material” through the distance mode.
To present counselling/Contact Programmes, Workshops, Audio Visual Aids and

Practical Experience to the aspirants through Students Support Service by establishing a number of Study Centres/ Programme Centres.
