Jadavpur University was established in 1955 and is a public state university located in Kolkata and has two campuses: the main campus at Jadavpur and the new campus at Salt Lake. A third campus is scheduled to open at the site of the erstwhile National Instruments (CSIR India). Ranking Jadavpur University has been ranked at 26th in India by The Week Magazine in 2016. It was ranked at 23rd by Career India in 2015. It was ranked as the 11th best Engineering College of India in the Edu-Rand Rankings of 2015. The survey was done jointly by Edu, an Indian company, and Rand Corporation, a non-profit American think tank. It has also been ranked 80 among the BRICS nations by TIMES Higher Education Rankings which is also seventh in India. Moreover, it has also been ranked between 501-600 in the world rankings by THE & Computer Science department is ranked 351-400 in the world-university-rankings 2016 by QS.
