As you asking here I am telling Jadavpur University Library was set up along with the establishment of the University in 1955 in order to provide the academic and research needs of the faculty, research scholars, students, officers and non-teaching staff.

Jadavpur University Central Library is housed in a three-storied building on the campus. Its shelf space and working space total 36,000 sq. ft.,(approx) and is being extended by new construction of Annex Building 5,500 sq. ft. (approx.). Seven reading rooms, carrels, and an alcove for bound volumes of journals provide sitting accommodation for 700 readers. There is a separate library on the Second Campus at Salt Lake. The space of the Salt Lake campus Library is 6,500sq. ft. (approx.).

Presently Jadavpur University Central Library has over 6,14,846 volumes of books on record (including the Salt lake Campus Library and those loaned to Departmental Libraries), 80,000 bound volumes of journals, 13000 theses and dissertations, and 37,000 items of non-book materials such as reports pamphlets, maps and micro-forms.
