Hanafi school was established by Abu Hanifa an-Nu‘man. This school is followed by Muslims in the Levant, Central Asia, Bangladesh, Western Lower Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Iraq, Turkey, and the Balkans and by most of Russia's Muslim community.

Hanafi school is one of the four schools of law in Islamic jurisprudence.
