Paper consists of science subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Physics-
Properties of Matter, Thermodynamics, Optics and Waves, Electromagnetism, Mechanics and laboratory related questions.

Chemistry-
Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, environmental chemistry, biomolecules, chemistry in every day life and polymers.

Mathematics-

IIST conducts ISAT or Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology exam every year. B.Tech admissions are made through ISAT Exams. On successful completion of the course with prescribed academic standards, the students will be absorbed in ISRO as Scientists / Engineers. ISAT exam is presented in units:

The test assesses:

Critical Reasoning - comprehending, analysing, evaluating and extending ideas; these questions use materials from the humanities and social sciences.

Quantitative Reasoning - drawing conclusions, making decisions and solving problems; these questions use material from mathematics and the sciences.
