ELIGIBILITY

Candidate must be a graduate student or a faculty member at a U.S. institution at the start of the program to be considered for admission.

COST

Scholars will need to pay a $200 deposit, which will be refunded by ISSJS in full at the start of the program in India.

This cost is for;

Tuition
Room and board
Travel in India

Airfare to India (approx. $1600 roundtrip),
Visa fees (approx. $100)
Medical insurance (approx. $70 for traveler’s insurance),
Course materials (approx. $30),
Transcript costs ($25 per copy), and personal expenses are not covered.

APPLICATION PROCESS

For apply firstly please go to the ISSJS application page.
You will need to submit an Application Form, 1 letter of recommendation, and a 1,000-word personal statement (explaining how the program will benefit your studies, and your past academic training relevant to the Indic traditions).
Note;
Note that all application materials must be submitted directly to ISSJS, not to Claremont Lincoln.
Application deadline is Feb. 14, 2014 (at midnight PST).
All candidates will be notified of their admission status via email in end of February 2014.

Summer programs and deadlines
ISSJS.2015-4W (June 4th – 30th, 2015)
Introductory program in culture , history, philosophy, and ethics of Jainism for undergraduate students, graduate students, and PhD students

ISSJS.2015-Yoga (July 1st – 21st, 2015)
A Program focused in various texts , aspects and systems of Jain Yoga / Meditation. This program is for practitioners of Yoga and graduate students pursuing Yoga studies.

ISSJS.2015-6W (May 28th – July 8th, 2015)
Advanced program in culture , history, philosophy and ethics of Jainism for graduate students, Ph.D. candidates, Post Doctoral scholars and full time teaching and research faculty involved in religion and South Asian studies.

ISSJS.2015-Teaching for Peace (July 4th – 26th, 2015)
This Program is for all school teachers / educators who wish to learn the basics of ahimsa, and integrate practical nonviolence into their curriculums and schools.

It includes the study of Gandhi and how he was influenced by teachings about ahimsa.
