The Institute of Medicine (IOM) is Established in 1970 it is an independent, nonprofit organization that works for make unbiased and authoritative advice to decision makers and the public.


The IOM is the health arm of the National Academy of Sciences.
The National Academy of Sciences has expanded into:
National Academy of Sciences,
The National Academy of Engineering,
The National Research Council
The IOM


The committee of Institute Of Medicine conduct a consensus study on Approaching Death: Addressing Key End of Life Issues that produce a comprehensive report on the current state of health care for persons of all ages with a serious illness or medical condition who are likely approaching death. Persons who likely approach to death require individual and family support ,appropriate personal communication.


The IOM plans to examine the state of end-of-life care with respect to or including many conditions like:

Delivery of medical care and social support;
Patient-family-provider communication of values and preferences;
Advance care planning;
Health care cost,
Financing and reimbursement;
Education of health professionals, patients and their loved ones
Clinical care and delivery,
Resources and workforce,
Economics, spirituality and compassion.
