Re: Information about IPS exam, schedule and its syllabus.

Indian Police Service is one of the three All India Services of the Government of India.
IPS exam is Civil service exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission once a year.

IPS 2015 Exam Date:

CIVIL SERVICES (PRELIMINARY) EXAM 2015:

Date of commencement of Examination:- 23.08.2015 (SUNDAY)

Duration of the Exam:- 1 DAY

CIVIL SERVICES (MAIN) EXAM 2015:-

Date of commencement of Examination:- 18.12.2015 (FRIDAY)

Duration of the Exam:- 5 DAYS

Syllabus:

Part A

PAPERS OF OBJECTIVE TYPE

Paper I - (200 marks) Duration : Two hours

• Current events of national and international importance
• History of India and Indian National Movement
• Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
• Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
• Economic and Social Development-Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
• General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization
• General Science.

Paper II-(200 marks) Duration : Two hours

• Comprehension
• Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
• Logical reasoning and analytical ability
• Decision making and problem solving
• General mental ability
• Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. — Class X level)
• English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).

Part B

Paper III : English (200 marks / 3 hours duration) :

(i) Comprehension of given passages;
(ii) Precis Writing;
(iii) Usage and Vocabulary;
(iv) Paragraphs writing

Paper IV : Essay ( 200 Marks/ three hours duration)

Candidates have to write two Essays. One topic will be related to Indian Society/politics/ Economy/Development, Growth and related aspects.
The other topic will be related to security and related matters. Candidates are expected to keep closely to the subject of the essay.

Paper V : General Studies (200 Marks/ three hours duration)

The questions will be to test a candidate’s awareness of a variety of subjects and are likely to test the candidate’s basic understanding of all relevant issues and ability to analyze and take a view on conflicting socio-economic goals, objectives and demands.
