The Regional Centre (RC), Mumbai of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was established in Jan 2009 with the bifurcation of Pune region.

It covers the Mumbai Metropolitan and engraved the Konkan Region of the state covering Districts of Greater Mumbai, Mumbai Suburban, Thane, Palghar, Raigad and Ratnagiri.

Regional Centre, Mumbai covers 60% of the total population of Maharashtra.
