Indian Statistical Institute is the first institute in Asia to acquire a digital compute and in India to participate in successfully building an indigenous digital computer. ISI offers a two-year degree programme on M.Tech. in Computer Science is being offered in Kolkata since 1981. It is a One of the first postgraduate degrees in Computer Science offered in India. Eligibility: Candidates have knowledge of mathematics at the graduate level, and Those who possess any one of the following minimum academic qualifications: Candidate shave a Master's degree in Mathematics / Statistics / Physics / Electronics / Computer Science / Computer Applications (MCA)/ Business Administration (MBA) Also have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology, or any other qualification considered equivalent (such as AMIE, GRAD-IETE). Course Structure for M.Tech In Computer Science: 1st year, 1st semester: Discrete Mathematics Data and File Structures Three from the following List A as advised by the faculty based on the background of the student: List A Introduction to Programming Data and File Structures Laboratory Computer Organization Elements of Algebraic Structures Probability and Stochastic Processes Principles of Programming Languages. 1st year, 2nd semester: Computer Networks Design and Analysis of Algorithms Automata, Languages and Computation Database Management Systems Operating Systems 2nd year, 1st semester: Five electives to be selected from the List B of courses, as advised by the faculty based on the background of the student and Dissertation (to be continued through the fourth semester).
