the e-Course on Vulnerability Atlas of India offered by SPA (School of Planning and Architecture), New Delhi is a basic e-learning course that offers awareness and understanding about natural hazards, helps identify regions with high vulnerability with respect to various hazards (earthquakes, cyclones, landslides, floods, etc.) and specifies district-wise level of damage risks to the existing housing stock. The e-course will be a tool for effective & efficient disaster mitigation & management in the field of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Urban & Regional Planning, Housing & Infrastructure Planning, Construction Engineering & Management and Building & Materials Research. Objectives The objectives of this e-learning programme are: To familiarise the public and strategic stakeholders about the content and application of the Vulnerability Atlas of India To bring safe practices in architecture, civil engineering, construction engineering and management, building and materials research, urban & regional planning and housing & infrastructure planning field. Use it for design of buildings, towers, structures, etc., and to identify regions with high vulnerability against various hazards, (viz. earthquakes, cyclones, landslides, floods, etc.) for disaster mitigation Curriculum The prospectus covers the concept of vulnerability, and the Vulnerability Atlas, understanding geological hazards e.g. earthquakes & landslides, vulnerability to wind related hazards, flood hazards, housing vulnerability risk tables and use of the Vulnerability Atlas. Target Group One who wishes to keep abreast with knowledge about various hazards, vulnerability & disaster mitigation measures, in order to be better prepared.
