The Indian Council Of Medical Research has a institute National Institute Of Nutrition. The NIN Indias premier nutrition research institute is working under the aegis of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. National Institute of Nutrition was founded by Sir Robert McCarrison in the year 1918 as Beri-Beri Enquiry Unit in a single room laboratory at the Pasteur Institute, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu.
