IIT Roorkee Sarojini Bhawan

Sarojini Bhawan, the only Girls Hostel in IIT Roorkee, was established in 1966-67 by Smt. Lakshi Kanntamma Reddy. The name of the bhawan is dedicated to the Nightangle of India, Sarojini Naidu, who is a inspiration for all girls that sky is the limit.

As the time passed, it was extended four times. The wing named Krishna was constructed in year 1985-86 and the second extension, which resulted in the Disang wing, was erected in year1988-89.The Alaknanda wing was constructed in 2000-2001. The Newest wing, Sabarmati was built in 2002-2003.

Facilities

A well-equipped gymnasium is open for the bhawan residents 24X7.

The gym has complete set of exercise units along with treadmills, stationary cycles, exercise ball, dumbles, etc.

The bhawan canteen provides delicious and affordable food items to the residents daily from 2 pm to 2 am.

The bhawan cyber room is equipped with over 20 computer terminals, with internet and printing facilities. It is open to the students from 4pm to 12 am.

A lady-run salon within the hostel is open to bhawan residents on 6 days of the week (closed on Thursdays).

A 40 inch flat screen TV is provided for the entertainment of all residents.

The TV is connected to satellite dish for seamless viewing of favourite shows and channels.

The room has comfortable seating arrangement and is provided with 2 desert room coolers
