Re: IIT Mumbai CFD
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is the product of the confluence of fluid dynamics and a range of allied subjects: numerical methods, grid generation, computational geometry, computer-aided geometric plan, computer graphics and corresponding computing. The application ranges over: combustion / heat transfer study, pollution organization and control, underground water management, or aerodynamic design of aerospace vehicles. IITZeus is a faction of faculty, graduate and undergraduate students belonging to diverse engineering departments, and led by Prof G R Shevare, Aerospace Engineering. It has also involved people from other IITs and engineering colleges. IITZeus has developed two most vital software products—CFDTutor and CFDExpert. CFDTutor is the merely software available to train beginners. It can be operated in ‘Wizard’ and ‘Interactive’ modes. CFDExpert is full-fledged 3D CFD software competent of modelling, simulation and visualization, and provides end-to-end capabilities from plan to analysis. CFDExpert combines four fundamental modules: Geometry, Grid generation, Solver and Post processor. The faction at IIT Bombay is the only one using Param Padma and Param 10000 supercomputers for CFD alone. Other significant facilities include 4GB RAM serial machines, and 16 node Linux clusters. IITZeus group has formed a company—Zeus Numerix Pvt Ltd which is currently a denizen of the Technology Business Incubator at IIT Bombay. |
