The IIT Kanpur Civil Engineering faculties have offered consultancy services to numerous civil engineering projects in the country.

At IIT Kanpur Civil Engineering department Structural design of tall towers and multi-storey buildings, soil investigation for ash dykes, and design of domestic and industrial waste water treatment systems, are some of the major consultancy projects handled in the past.

For B.Tech students Project is an integral part of UG education at Civil Engineering department.

A student registers for BTP generally in her 7th semester as a zero credit course CE491.

The student completes her BTP in 8th semester by crediting the course CE492, which is a 4 credit course.
