Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur was established in the year 1959. It is located at Kalyanpur, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India .

The Astronomy Club is part of the Science and Technology Courncil of Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.

The main aim of the Astronomy Club is to promote amateur astronomy and popularise it in the institute.

To bring about an interest and awareness in the field of Astronomy and Space Research

Frequent lectures and talks by faculty , studentsand other renowned institutions like IUCAA, IIA etc.are organised by the members for the campus community.
