Indian Institute of Technology, Indore is an institute of national importance established by the Government of India in 2009. It is one of the eight new Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Ph.D Admissions

Applications are invited from highly motivated and research-oriented students for the admission to PhD Program in the following areas of specializations of different disciplines

1. Chemistry
2. Mathematics
3. Physics
4. Computer Science and Engineering
5. Electrical Engineering
6. Mechanical Engineering
7. Economics
8. Philosophy
9. English

Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D Admission:

Ph.D in Engineering:

(Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering)

Masters degree in the relevant branch of Engineering/ Technology with a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5 or 60% of marks

Masters degree in the relevant branch of Science with a valid GATE score

B. Tech. degree from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with a minimum CPI of 8.0.

Bachelors degree in engineering or technology from any other Institute with a valid GATE score.

Ph.D in Sciences:
(Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics)

M.Phil degree in relevant branch of science with a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5 or 60% marks.

Masters degree in a Science subject with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks with CSIR-JRF or NET; or UGC-JRF or NET

Masters degree in relevant branch of Engineering/ Technology with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks

B.Tech. from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with a minimum CPI of 8.0

Ph.D in Economics, English and Philosophy:
(Economics, English and Philosophy)

M.Phil degree in relevant discipline of Arts or Commerce

Masters degree in Arts/ Commerce with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent with UGC-JRF or NET

Masters degree in Science/Engineering/Agriculture/Environmental Science/ International Business with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks with UGC-JRF or NET may be considered for research areas consistent with the academic background and special interests.

B.Tech. from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with a minimum CPI of 8.0.

Selection:

The Institute reserves the right to call a limited number of candidates for written test and/or interview, based on performance in GATE/NET, grades/marks in the qualifying examination, etc.

Reservations:

The reservation of seats in admissions for SC, ST, OBC categories and for persons with disability (PD) will be as per Government of India rules.

Relaxation for SC/ST Candidates:

Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CPI for SC/ ST applicants.
