The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is a public engineering institution located in Powai, Mumbai, India. It is the second-oldest institute of the Indian Institutes of Technology system. IIT Bombay was established in 1958. Hazardous Waste Disposal Chemical Waste- Disposal of chemical waste is coordinated by the Material Management Division (MMD). Chemical bottles must be packed in cartons. Flammable chemicals must be packed separately. Bottles/containers with chemicals for disposal must have clear labels with details of the contents. List of chemicals and quantity of the chemicals for disposal must be send to Material Management Division. Empty chemical bottles can be packed in sacks. Date of collection of chemical waste will be informed from the Material Management Division. For information dial : 2576 8848 in MMD Bio hazard waste- Bio hazard waste disposal is being co ordinated by the Public Health Office (PHO). The collected bio hazard waste is handed over to an agency authorised by the Maharashtra State Pollution Control Board. Bio hazard waste of human and animal origin for incineration is collected by the PHO.
