Re: IIT Bombay URA
URA in Indian Institute of Technology means UG RESEARCH AWARDS. URA is given to those UG students, who have excellent academic performance and who are brilliant, an opportunity to get research exposure/experience by working in an on-going research project. It should be considered by those students who have good CPI (at least 8.5), and who can handle extra workload, and are keen to contribute in research.. There are no other fundamental rules. URA involves participating in and carrying out research as a project work and can be done by all the students who have got admission through JEE. The DD students can do URA01 only. The initial URA, called URA01, is for attainment of research exposure in any research project in the institute. It has no credits, and it should be done satisfactorily to be listed on your grade card. The second level includes URA02 and URA03. These should be done in lieu of your degree projects in the final year. URA02 is Stage 1 and URA03 is Stage 2 of the project. The II level URA represents research work, where the student is expected to have a say significantly to the ongoing research work. Both the levels of URA are independent an one may choose to do either or both and yes, it is possible, however, that one can do both also when they are in different summers.
