Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is a public university for scientific research and higher education located in Bangalore, India. The department of Aeronautical Engineering was started in December 1942. It is one of the oldest departments in the Institute Courses offered: Master of Engineering (M.E.) in Aerospace Engineering 2 year programme Minimum of 64 credits to qualify for award of ME degree Hard core courses (compulsory) : 24 credits Fill rest of the credits by taking elective courses from within/outside the department according to their interest. A dissertation project with 19 credits has to be completed during the period of two years by each student. Master of Science (M.Sc.) Engineering (by research) 5 semester program where the students are trained to do research. Minimum of 12 credits and work on the research problem as per course requirements. Duration of the course is 2-3years. M.Sc. students are assigned a research guide at the time of admission. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Duration of 5 years where the student does intensive research on the problem and prepares the thesis on the research work.
