The Institute of Technology, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya was established in 1997 as part of Guru Ghasidas University.

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) have accredited the University as B. The Vishwavidyalaya is named after Guru Ghasidas, a sixteenth century satnami saint.
