The IDPL (TN) Ltd, Chennai is situated at Nandambakkam, off Guindy, on the Chennai-Bangalore Poonamallee high road, atop the Adyar River and is spread over 123 acres of land (0.50 million sq.mts).

It was initially commissioned in 1965 predominantly as an engineering based company to manufacture Surgical Instruments.
In March 1994 , the unit was converted into a 100% Subsidiary of IDPl with new name as IDPL (TN) Ltd.
