IAS Exam Essay Word Limit
I am doing preparation of Essay writing for the IAS exam so please tell me what is the word limit to attempt the essay question in the IAS examination? Also give me details about the duration of the IAS exam? What are the total marks of IAS exam?

The UPSC asked students to write 2 essays each essay with 1250 words. The UPSC essay paper asked to write TWO Essays, choosing ONE from each of the Sections A and B, in about 1000-1200 words each. (125 2= Total 250 marks). In essay part there will 2 separate essays for which world limit will be around 1500 words each. For GS papers per answer word limit is 250 words. Sometimes word limit can be changed then it will be notified against the question with the given weightage of marks and word limit. The essay paper is an important aspect of the UPSC civil services exams. It can make or break students outcome. There are two sections in this paper. Each section gives you four topics out of which you have to choose one topic each. Each essay you write is marked out of 125 making a total of 250 marks. In the Essay paper, they give you 4-5 essays and you ve to write only one. Time limit -3 hours, Max-marks=200. In a 2 marker question, UPSC specifically mentions that answer it in 20 words. So with that logic, you’re expected to write an essay containing around 2000 words for the 200 marks. Contents to write an essay: Introduction Background / History related Main concept / theory / what the subject is about Current scenario related to it.
