The Indian Administrative Services is a Civil Service Examination CSE Exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). IAS Exam Age Limit Category Maximum Age Limit General Category 32 Years OBC Category 35 Years SC/ST Category 37 Years Physically disabled(Orthopedic |Deaf-mute|Blind) 42 Years Jammu and Kashmir domicile General- 37| OBC- 42|SC/ST- 42| PH- 50- Ex-serviceman with five years duty* General- 37| OBC- 42|SC/ST- 42 Disabled Serviceman Discharged From Duty General- 35| OBC- 38S| C/ST- 40 IAS Exam eligibility- Candidate should have a degree from Central, State or Deemed University. Degree from Correspondence Education or distance education, the open university is also accepted. IAS Exam syllabus- Syllabus of IAS Exam Paper I (PT) – (200 marks) Paper I is having Social Studies, Indian Economy, General Science, Current Affairs, Environment etc. The duration of exam remains two hours generally scheduled in the first half of the day (9 am – 11 am). Following is the syllabus provided by UPSC for this paper. Current events of national and international importance. History of India and Indian National Movement. Indian and World Geography – Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World. Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc. Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc. General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialisation General Science. Syllabus for Paper II – (200 marks) Paper II has Comprehension and Aptitude. Its duration is also of two hours, scheduled in second half of the day. Syllabus provided by UPSC:- Comprehension Interpersonal skills including communication skills; Logical reasoning and analytical ability Decision-making and problemsolving General mental ability Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. – Class X level) |
