IAS exam every year organized by Union Public Service Commission Eligibility Criteria: Aspirants must have any graduate degree from any recognized University. Students who are in the final year are also eligible. Candidates age should be between 21 and 30 years. Exam Pattern 1) CSAT 2) Civil Services Mains 3) IAS Interview. IAS Exam Syllabus IAS Preliminary Examination would consist of two papers- Paper I and Paper II. Paper 1 (200 marks) - Duration : Two hrs. Current events of national and international importance Economic and social development – sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives etc. General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change-that donot require subject specialization General science. History of India and Indian national movement Indian and World Geography- physical, social, economic geography of India and the world Indian Polity and governance – constitution, political system, panchayati raj, public policy, Rights issues, etc. Paper 2 (200 marks) - Duration : Two hrs. Comprehension Interpersonal skills including communication skills Logical reasoning and analytical ability Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. –Class X level) English language comprehension skills (Class X level) Decision making and problem solving General mental ability Paper I Section 1 Essay 200 Marks Section 2 English Comprehension & English Précis 100 Marks (Of Matriculation/ Xth standard level) Paper II General Studies - I (Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society) General Studies – II (Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations) Paper IV General Studies –III (Technology, Economic Development, Bio-diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management) Paper V General Studies -IV (Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude) Paper VI Optional Subject – Paper 1 250 Paper VII Optional Subject – Paper 2 250 List of Optional Subjects for Main Exam Group-1 Agriculture Economics Electrical Engineering Geography Geology History Law Management Mathematics Mechanical Engineering Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science Anthropology Botany Chemistry Civil Engineering Commerce and Accountancy Medical Science Philosophy Physics Political Science and International Relations Psychology Public Administration Sociology Statistics Zoology Group-2 Literature of any one of the following languages: Assamese Bengali Kannada Kashmiri Konkani Maithili Malayalam Manipuri Marathi Nepali Oriya Punjabi Sanskrit Santhali Sindhi Tamil Telugu Urdu English Bodo Dogri Gujarati Hindi |

IAS is the Indian Civil Services exam It is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) every year. The competitive examination comprises of three successive stages Civil Services - Preliminary Examination - Objective Type Civil Services - Main Examination - Written Test Interview / Personality Test Stage I: Civil Services (Preliminary) Examinations is the Objective Type paper for the selection of candidates for Main Examination The Exam shall comprise two compulsory papers of 200 marks each. Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours Current events of national and international importance. History of India and Indian National Movement.
