M.Sc. Biotechnology course was introduced at Hyderabad University in the year 1990 under the Department of Biotechnology.

Courses offered by the department during the four semesters are:

Semester 1:
Biochemistry,
Molecular Biology,
Analytical Techniques,
Microbiology and Industrial applications,
Genetics;

Semester 2:
Cell and Development Biology,
Genetic engineering,
Immunology,
Biostatistics and Computer Applications,
Bioporcess engineering and technology;

Semester 3:
Proteomics and Genomics;
Immuno technology,
Molecular Virology,
IPR and Biosafety,
2 electives to be chosen by the students;

Semester 4:
Bioentrepreneurship and Communication skills.
Electives as per the DBT revised curriculum will be offered to the students.
