To choose subjects for UPSC Main Exam one has to be very accurate as it can affect your result or selection. Normally one selects an optional subject in which one is familiar or has at least studied till the graduate level. The choice must not only be as per your interests but also be based on the study material available. As even science and engineering students take up subjects like history, sociology, anthropology, geography, political science, psychology and public administration because of the availability of study material in these subjects.
