Re: Honors Program CCSU
The Honors Program offered by CCSU (Central Connecticut State University) is open to academically superior students, usually defined as those who meet any one of the following qualifications: Top 20% of high school class, 1100+ combined SAT scores (on new 2016 version), or Verbal SAT score of 600+. These qualifications alone do not guarantee automatic admission to the Program. One who has equivalent qualifications is also encouraged to apply. The Program is an intellectually challenging, reading and writing intensive program. As well, many courses feature in-class debates and computer-assisted assignments. It stresses ideas and knowledge, and consistent with contemporary scholarship, in considers the social context and implications of those ideas. Curriculum The Honors curriculum consists of two four-credit courses each semester for first two years, then a year-long honors thesis, which will earn another 4 credits. There are no courses fourth year, but one is still considered an Honors student and will receive scholarship and priority registration. The honors classes count toward general education curriculum, and cover everything except foreign language, math, lab science, PE 144, and any other requirement established by major.
