University of Rajasthan is a public and state university and one of the oldest universities in the Indian state Rajasthan, located in the city Jaipur.

It was established on 8 January 1947 as the University of Rajputana and was given its current name in the year 1956.

The colleges in Rajasthan (erstwhile Rajputana) were then affiliated to Agra University after it was established in 1927.

The foundation stone of the University Campus was laid by Shri C. Rajagopalachari on Sunday, the February 20, 1949.
